Dominic Markes is a photographer and sound artist based in London. 

He specialises in mixed-media projects that document the sights and sounds of England’s folkloric events, and culturally-significant gatherings around the world. 

With a street photographer’s intuition and a calm and warm disposition, he is able to capture momentous, fleeting moments, and make informed, authentic portraits of his subjects. 

His personal practice - consisting mainly of long-form documentary projects - explores themes of (collective) identity, belonging and connectedness. It has been shortlisted for the IPA International Photography Awards in consecutive years, the British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Humanity Awards, and he was twice semi-finalist at the Urban Photo Awards. 

Dominic has been commissioned by Google, Columbia Records, Pioneer DJ and War Child to name a few, and is available for commissions, portraits and projects worldwide.
