Minehead Steam Spectacular
(January 2026)
In May of last year I documented the first day of Minehead’s Spring Steam Spectacular - a steam train gala. I shot 7 rolls of film in 2 hours - it was exhilirating being amongst it all!
This is the first series that I handprinted and scanned myself (!) made possible by Arts Council England’s Develop Your Creative Practice Grant that I was awarded last autumn. I handprinted these at Rapid Eye Darkroom in London, with special thanks to my mentor Chris Cooke.
Arts Council England Develop Your Creative Practice
Grant recipient (December 2025)
With generous support from Medway Council’s Culture Team, Photoworks, Jasmine Chohan (Assistant Curator at Tate Britain), and Steve Macleod (former Director at Metro Imaging), I was awarded an Arts Council England Develop Your Creative Practice grant in September.
The funding has enabled me - and will continue to for the next nine months - to finally learn the craft of darkroom printing, something I’ve longed to pursue since I first picked up a camera. As part of this development, I receive monthly feedback sessions with mentor and master printer Chris Cooke at Rapid Eye Darkroom in London, alongside progress reviews with Jasmine and Steve. It truly is a dream come true! I’ve now spent over 200 hours in the darkroom, and my photographs have never looked better!!!
I’m excited to share more of this journey here and on Instagram as I work towards producing handprints for an exhibition late next year, and launching an online print shop in early 2026. Watch this space!
