Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Hosted by the department store on New York City's sixth avenue, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade first took place in 1924. It is the second-oldest Thanksgiving Parade in America, being four years younger than Philadelphia's. The parade takes place annually from 9am to 12pm, and consists of giant balloons, floats, live music performances, college and high-school marching bands, cheerleaders and Santa Claus who concludes the event by ringing in the holiday season.
